Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use arwatch.co or contact us, how we use it, and the rights you have. We are committed to handling your data lawfully and transparently under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
The data controller is Anderson Ross Watch Co Ltd, registered in Scotland, company no. SC887576, of 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, United Kingdom, EH2 4AN. For any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@arwatch.co.
The information we collect, and why
When you contact us. Our contact form collects your name, email address, subject and message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch.
When you subscribe to our newsletter. We collect your email address and send it to our email provider, Mailchimp, to manage the mailing list and send updates. We do this on the basis of your consent, given when you sign up; you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
When you reserve or buy a watch. Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details — Stripe processes them securely. To fulfil an order we will hold the details you provide (name, delivery address, email, order and payment reference) so we can process the reservation or sale, arrange delivery, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. Our lawful bases are performance of our contract with you and compliance with legal obligations (for example, keeping records required by tax law).
When you visit the site. Our web server automatically logs standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. This is used to keep the site secure and running, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a safe website.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the business, and only as far as needed:
- StripeSecure payment processing.
- MailchimpNewsletter delivery (if you subscribe).
- 123 Reg LtdHosting the website and email.
- DHL Internationl (UK) LimitedDelivering your watch — we share your name and delivery address only.
We may also disclose information where required by law.
International transfers
Some of our providers (including Stripe and Mailchimp) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place — such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent contractual protections — so your data receives a comparable level of protection.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry emails only as long as needed to deal with your query and a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Order and payment records are kept for as long as required by law (generally six years for accounting purposes).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@arwatch.co and we'll respond within the timescales the law requires.
Cookies
The site uses only the cookies necessary for it to work. Where you interact with third parties — such as Stripe at checkout, or an embedded Mailchimp form — those providers may set their own cookies, governed by their privacy policies.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
